It is known that pottery has been made by wheel since the Hittites in Avanos. This handicraft has survived from tribe to tribe, from father to son.
Soft and oily clay soils from the mountains of Avanos and the old beds of Kızılırmak are sieved and kneaded into mud. The desired bowl is made by skillfully shaping the mud on the workbench, which is called the wheel and rotates with the foot.

The bowls produced in workshops called Workshops are first dried in the sun and then in the shade, and then carefully cooked in ovens burned with straw and sawdust, starting from 800 degrees to 1200 degrees.
